BRS MLC Kavitha: BRS MLC and former Telangana CM KCR Tanya, who was arrested on March 15 this year in the Delhi Madhyam scam, has been in jail for five months. Both Raoose Avenue Court and Delhi High Court rejected her petitions for bail on several grounds. The investigating agencies are arguing that bail should not be granted. All her bail attempts so far have failed. Recently, Kalvakuntla Kavitha approached the Supreme Court to grant her bail in the cases filed by ED and CBI in her Delhi liquor case. As former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia got bail in this case, Kalvakuntla Kavitha is also confident that she will get bail. But she also faced disappointment in the Supreme Court on Monday (August 12). A bench of Justice Gavai and Justice Viswanathan refused to grant interim bail. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi heard arguments on behalf of MLC Kavitha.
In jail for five months..
As a representative of the people, Kavita, who is a woman, will be kept in jail for a long time, Rohatgi's arguments were heard. He cited the cases of Manish Sisodia and Kejriwal, who have already got bail in this case. However, Justice Gavai made it clear that he would issue notices to the ED and CBI, who had filed the case regarding Rohatgi's claims. Kavitha's lawyer Rohatgi appealed to the bench to grant at least interim bail. Justice Gawai refused this. He said that arguments will be heard only after expressing their views. He clarified that interim bail cannot be granted till then. The next hearing was adjourned to August 20. ED and CBI have been directed to file an affidavit before this.
Many bail petitions have already been rejected.
Meanwhile, Kavitha has already approached Ravus Avenue Court and Delhi High Court several times for bail. Investigating agencies argued that bail should not be granted. They said that Kavitha is the key pin in this scam, that she is not an ordinary person and that the evidence will be tampered with if it comes out. Already in the liquor policy case, it has been pleaded that Kavitha destroyed the evidence and tried to influence the witnesses. Investigating agencies have termed Kavitha as the most influential person, saying that if bail is granted because she is a woman, she will influence the witnesses. The courts agreed with the arguments of the investigating agencies. The bail petitions were rejected.
