Chandigarh Mayor election: Why the fuss over Chandigarh Mayor election?

Chandigarh Mayor election : Sometimes it is better not to get involved in unnecessary matters. It's a fact that if you don't care about what the people around you think and do things, it's a shame. BJP is currently facing a similar problem. In the background of the news that it will come to power for the third time with the construction of the Ram Mandir.. the idol of Ram.. and many other positive developments.. It is a self-inflicted crime for the BJP to face such trouble. It is not a common thing that the Supreme Court intervenes at the same time. AAP and other parties, who are waiting for Adunu, have started targeting BJP. Moreover, they are accusing the BJP of making a mockery of democracy by winning the elections. What happened so far??

Chandigarh is the capital of the state of Punjab. It borders the state of Delhi. Generally speaking it is a corporation. Warangal city administration is almost as big as in Telangana. Last month, voting was held for the election of the Mayor of Chandigarh. Anil Masi acted as the returning officer for this voting process. There are 36 councilors in the entire Chandigarh municipality. AAP and Congress alliance has a strength of 20 councillors. In fact, everyone thought that the alliance was a success. That is where the real twist started. The Returning Officer announced that 8 votes of AAP-Congress alliance were white due to incorrect marks. In this order, the returning officer announced that the mayoral candidate of that alliance Kuldeep Singh got 12 votes and BJP candidate Manoj Sonkar got 16 votes. It was announced that the BJP candidate had won. With this, those related to the lotus party celebrated. Naturally, this election caused anger in the AAP-Congress alliance. They were fed up with the behavior of the Returning Officer. With this, the leaders of the Congress-AAP alliance decided to cancel the election.

As part of this, AAP Councilor Kuldeep Singh first approached the Punjab-Haryana High Court. As there was a rejection from the court, he climbed the steps of the Supreme Court. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court alleging that there were irregularities in the election of the Mayor of Chandigarh. A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandra Choudh, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra of the Supreme Court heard the petition on Monday. It expressed its anger at the annulment of 8 votes related to the election of the Chandigarh Mayor. The behavior of the Returning Officer was not proper. Moreover, it is believed that his changes appeared to have been made in the ballot papers. The Bench said that the Returning Officer should have been investigated. The bench found that he deliberately added the marks on the ballot papers. On this occasion, the bench made important remarks. It expressed anger that it will not be tolerated under any circumstances if democracy is killed. The Punjab Haryana High Court has directed the Registrar General to hand over all the records, ballot papers, videography and evidence related to the Chandigarh Mayor election. AAP-Congress alliance leaders are criticizing Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict. They expressed anger that democracy is being taken into their hands. Even with this verdict, BJP leaders are demanding to change their policies.
