It has now become a matter of debate who the TDP will give ticket to in these parliamentary seats, which were once represented by the Kammas.
CM Jagan: It is said that caste does not exist.. Religion does not exist. That sounds good to me, but it is not implemented at the field level. Especially in Andhra Pradesh, caste and politics cannot be separated. This is the situation there for the past decades. All the political parties have fallen in this caste division.. In the last elections all the parties followed the same caste formula.. Only YCP was able to fully implement this formula and achieve victory. Five years have passed.. Now elections are near again in AP. Leaving aside the TDP Janasena alliance, YCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy is once again implementing the caste formula in the key constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. Will that formula be successful? Or is it bedridden? It remains to be seen.
In AP, which has 175 assembly constituencies, Jaganmohan Reddy is doing many experiments in this round of elections. Candidates in sitting positions are being changed completely. But above all, the changes made by YCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy in two constituencies are creating a sensation in AP politics. Generally, changes and additions are made in assembly locations. Unlike them, Jagan Mohan Reddy initiated changes in two parliamentary seats. But it is significant that these two parliamentary seats are represented by the Kamma community. One of those two parliamentary seats is Eluru and the second is Visakhapatnam.. These two parliamentary seats are currently in the hands of Kamma leaders. YCP leader MVV Satyanarayana is continuing as Visakha MP. He is a leader of the Kamma community. He got the ticket for the first time in the last election and won. Kotagiri Sridhar is MP from Eluru parliamentary seat. He also belongs to Kamma social group. However, there is a discussion going on that these two have been kept aside by Jagan. Both the constituencies are not only in the respective districts but also politically important. Looking at the history of these constituencies so far, BCs have not got a chance here. Maganti Babu of Kamma community represented from Eluru parliamentary seat. After Maganti Babu, Kotagiri Sridhar contested as MP here and won. Jagan sidelined Sridhar in the background of his own cadre expressing dissatisfaction with him. Jaganmohan Reddy gave ticket to Karumuri Sunil from Yadava community in this Eluru parliament seat.
If we look at the last elections in Visakhapatnam, Congress, TDP and BJP gave preference to people belonging to the Kamma community. Previously Daggubati Purandeshwari won as MP from Visakhapatnam parliamentary seat from Congress party. Kambhampati Haribabu contested from Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014 and won. In 2019, MVV Satyanarayana competed here and won. In this constituency, Jagan has allotted a ticket to former MP Botsa Jhansi, who belongs to the BC community. As a result, these two constituencies have gained importance in AP state politics. It has now become a matter of debate who the TDP will give ticket to in these parliamentary seats, which were once represented by the Kammas.
