Kavita filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the summons issued by the enforcement in the Delhi liquor case. The Supreme Court heard this petition on Monday. The Supreme Court has announced that the next hearing will be postponed to the 16th of this month.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav is facing ED investigation in the corruption case. Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is already in jail. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is in jail in Delhi liquor scam. But Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC Kavitha, who is accused in the same case, is not attending the actual trial. It is the Enforcement Directorate which is actually the Central Investigation Agency and not anyone else. Earlier, she was interrogated by the ED officials in connection with the Delhi liquor scam case. She gave them some cell phones on this occasion. At that time there were reports that she would be arrested as well. Later, this D became silent in this case. Moreover, Kavitha has alleged that the provisions of CRPC were not being followed during her interrogation. She has filed a petition in the Supreme Court referring to the cases of Nalini Chidambaram and Abhishek Banerjee. The Supreme Court which heard this petition ruled that Kavitha should not be heard till November. In the meantime, the ED did not pay much attention to this case as the elections were coming.. But after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made key comments about the Delhi Liquor Scam recently, the ED started digging into this case once again.
Kavita filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the summons issued by the enforcement in the Delhi liquor case. The Supreme Court heard this petition on Monday. The Supreme Court has announced that the next hearing will be postponed to the 16th of this month. Kavita filed a petition in the Supreme Court that the CRPC rules were not being followed while investigating the women. He asked the ED to give directions not to disturb him during the investigation. However, the investigation regarding the case has been postponed for the past few months. A bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Pankaj Mithal heard the petition filed by Kavitha on Monday. Although the ED officials are ready to conduct the investigation, Kavitha is not responding properly, said the lawyer for the ED officials, ASG SV Raju. However, Kavita's lawyer, Kapil Sibal, stated in front of the court that there was no need for an inquiry into the matter as Kavita had challenged only the summons filed by the ED. Moreover, Kapil Sibal reminded the court that at that time the ED had said that Kavitha would not be called till further investigation. At this time, ASG SV Raju made it clear that the next hearing date will not be called at all. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the Supreme Court bench adjourned the case to February 16.
In March last year, Kavitha was interrogated by the ED officials in the Delhi liquor scam. On this occasion, she gave them some cell phones. Kavita filed a petition in the Supreme Court saying that she is a woman. But before this petition came up for hearing, the ED officials issued a notice to her in September. As she again approached the Supreme Court, the bench that heard the case made it clear to the ED officials that Kavitha should not be heard till November. In the meantime, this case has become silent once the election has come. There was movement in this case after the election rush was over. There is a lot of interest as to what verdict the Supreme Court will give on February 16. On the other hand, there is no criticism that it will take many more years to convict the guilty in this case.
