Gas Scheme: As part of six guarantees, the Congress government in Telangana has decided to provide a cylinder for Rs.500. As part of this, the scheme is getting ready to be implemented from February 27. In this context, should the cylinder price be paid in advance to avail the benefit of this scheme? Or is paying Rs.500 enough? Many people have doubts. How does the original 'Mahalakshmi' scheme apply to 'Ujwala Gas' beneficiaries at this point? The question arises.
The Civil Supplies Department has decided to make gas consumers pay the full price in full while booking the cylinder. To this extent, it was clarified in the video conference of the high officials held on Sunday afternoon to clear the doubts raised by the consumers so far. That means if the cylinder is Rs.955 the consumers have to pay this amount. Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, the beneficiaries have to give a subsidy of Rs.500. But in this the central government is paying Rs. 40 except Rs.415 will be deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries under state government subsidy.
And how does this scheme apply to bright gas cylinders? There are doubts. Telangana state has a total of 11.58 lakh bright gas connections. The central government is already providing a subsidy of Rs.340 to them. But the Mahalakshmi scheme is also applicable to them. That means gas consumers will have to pay Rs.970 if they book a cylinder. Out of which Rs. 500 to be paid by the State Government under 'Mahalakshmi'. But they already get a discount of Rs.340. Therefore, after deducting Rs.340 from Rs.500, the state government pays the remaining Rs.130. In total Ujjwala users will also get benefit of Rs.500 scheme.
But gas cylinders are of different types in different regions. The reason for that is the transportation charges. In this context, except for transport charges, gas prices are all the same. In any case, the Telangana state government has given a subsidy of Rs.500 to the beneficiaries, and the beneficiaries are happy.
