In Barsana in Uttar Pradesh, colors are not only sprinkled on the day of Holi, women chase men with sticks and beat them. Chita Bhasma Holi is celebrated in Varanasi. There, saints and aghoras gather with their devotees near the Manikarnik Ghat and play Holi by removing the ashes from the pyre. A tradition still continues in Santana, a village in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district.
