Former MLA Haripriya and 15 councilors complained about the attacks and kidnapping incidents on the municipal councilors after going to the police station.
Illendu Municipality: In the Illendu Municipality of Bhadradi Kothagudem district, the vote of no confidence passed by the BRS councilors against the municipal chairman Dammalapati Venkateswarao on Monday failed due to lack of quorum. Councilors 24 ex-officio members along with MLA Koram Kanakaiah and 25 other members are expected to attend the municipal special meeting organized under the chairmanship of RDO Sirisha. However, only 15 councilors from BRS attended while 2/3rd members were required to attend the special meeting on no-confidence. Municipal Chairman Dammalapati Venkateswara Rao and his supporters did not attend the meeting along with MLA Koram Kanakaiah. While 17 councilors were required to be present to complete the quorum, only 15 were present, causing no confidence. However, the first 17 councilors from the camp organized under the leadership of BRS leader Kondapalli Ganesh came to participate in the municipal special meeting on Monday morning. Congress leaders and workers who thronged the municipal office raised slogans against the BRS councillors. They tried to prevent it with concerns.
BRS councilors Kokku Nageswarao and Ajam's first MLA Kanakaiah who came to the meeting were attacked by his followers and forced to lock them up while Councilor Azam freed them and ran to the council hall. Meanwhile, Councilor Kokku Nageswarao himself along with MLA Koram Kanakaiah were grabbed by his followers and detained in the MPP office. At the same time CPI councilor Kummari Ravinder was thrashed. Even though Ravinder's shirt was torn in the attack by the Congress workers, he ran to the municipal office. While the Congress leaders and activists were forcibly lifting the councillors, former MLA Banoth Haripriya resisted, but she was also pushed and taken to the MP's office and detained. Later, both parties reached the MPP's office and clashed with Bahabahi and destroyed the glass of the MPP's meeting hall. Esanderbanga Councilor Nageswara Rao was picked up in a car from the MPP office and taken to an unknown place by MLA Kanakaiah. CPI councilor Kummari Ravinder, who was attacked and joined the municipality, was subsequently seen not participating in the meeting.
Later, in a special meeting held under the leadership of RDO Shirisha, only 15 of the 17 councilors who were required to attend to complete the quorum, were disbelief. Meanwhile, Councilor Barya Kokku Venkatalakshmi's daughter protested in front of the municipal office, saying that her husband Nageswarao was kidnapped by MLA Kanakaiah and Municipal Chairman DV, and that the police did not provide protection to her husband who attended the meeting. They protested that the police did not heed the orders of the High Court. Later, former MLA Banoth Haripriya along with 15 councilors came to the gate from the meeting hall and started a dharna. The Congress leaders accused the police of ignoring the councilors under the leadership of the MLA and kidnapping them.
