India-Qatar: Qatar has arrested eight Indian Navy personnel for espionage. The local court sentenced them to death after two or three trials. Then the Indian government stepped in and abolished the death penalty. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi's plan is to bring them home. And what to do for that? The nation of Qatar has expressed its anger towards us due to Nupur Sharma's comments on Prophet Muhammad. At that time the Vice President Venkaiah Naidu protested when he went on a visit to the country. Because of that incident, our country's diplomatic relations with that country have been limited. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is at a loss as to what to do in this context. On the other hand, the relatives here are submitting pleas after pleas to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save their relatives who are serving sentences in Qatar jails. But a decision taken by Narendra Modi regarding their release completely changed the relationship between the two countries.
The CoP28 conference was held in Dubai on December 1, 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended this conference. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani from Qatar also attended the event. On this occasion, Khatar Sheikh Tamim and Narendra Modi met. At that time there was a mention of execution of former officers of the Indian Navy among them. At that time, as per the special request of Narendra Modi, Accountant Sheikh Tamim promised to provide you legal benefits. After the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought in National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He has visited Qatar many times. They searched all the legal ways to get those 8 Indian citizens out. Of course trade between countries plays an important role. India is particularly dependent on Qatar for supplies of liquefied natural gas. This played a key role in their release.
Before the release of the eight accused of espionage, the government had signed a 20-year deal to supply liquefied natural gas from Qatar from 2028 to 2048. Qatar Energy and India's PetroNet signed the agreement in February. Earlier, Qatar played a key role in some of the developments in the Israeli-Palestinian war. Played a key role in the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas militants on October 7. India acted according to the conditions in this war. First, when Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, India expressed its solidarity with Israel. When Israel attacks Palestine, it calls for a cease-fire at the United Nations. . The business deals, the legal treatment… the moves made in the war between Palestine and Israel… made the Qatari government think. As a result, the way was paved for the release of former Indian Navy officers.
The Qatari authorities released them from prison on the orders of the government. They reached Delhi, Qatar on Monday morning by a special flight. Out of 8 former naval officers, seven reached India. One of them is from Vizag. Purnendu Tiwari, one of the eight, works as the Managing Director of Dahra Global Company. He is currently in Qatar. Indian diplomats said that he will also return to India after some legal consultations.
But because of Narendra Modi's behavior, those eight Indian citizens were released from Qatar jail. Diplomacy is based on the relationship that one country has with another country. At that time BJP leader Nupur Sharma made controversial comments on Muslim Prophet. Qatar strongly protested her comments. Yet Modi saved the diplomatic relationship with his shrewdness. He further expanded the trade between the two countries. As a result, Qatar, which protested, has become India's trading partner. Moreover, Indian citizens were released from jail without any conditions. That's why it is said that a country will always be strong in the hands of a strong leader.
