Israel – Palestine crisis : “There is no good war.. there is no bad peace” That is what the famous writer George Bernard Shaw once said decades ago. What he said in his personal experience.. is coming to the experience of the people of Gaza in Palestine. Actually, although the people of Gaza have nothing to do with this war… their situation has changed as if it was a punishment for a mistake they did not commit. The Israeli army is carrying out attacks aimed at inciting Hamas terrorists. Bombs are raining down on Gaza City. As a result people there are witnessing hell. There is no food to eat. No water to drink.. No chance to go out. No place to hide your head. What is more direct suffering? The people of Gaza are experiencing a similar situation.
After the attacks by Israel, the staff of the United Nations affiliated organization UNRW have carried out relief activities in Gaza until recently. Food and drinks were given to the refugees. The organization has now left Gaza City. As a result, food and drinks were lost to the people. This increased the hunger pangs. Gaza City has a population of 2.2 million people, 80 percent of whom are hiding in the Rafah area of southern Gaza. In the wake of Israeli attacks, the food problem in the area has increased tremendously.
As there is no possibility of drinking rice from any side, the people there are eating weeds called “malo” as food. Some traders are collecting “malo” weeds. 80 Israeli shekels (₹1,800 in Indian currency) are being charged per plant. In fact, this plant is used as a medicine to reduce allergies and sore throats. Although this plant is known to cause illness if consumed in excess, Gazans say there is no other solution to their hunger. Although there are no such conditions in the northern Gaza area, people say that if the attacks increase there too, it will be like this. There are also reports of hunger pangs in the Jabalia camp in the West Bank. In this process, the refugees complain that they are feeding their children with the meat of horses killed by Israeli attacks. On the other hand, Egyptian sources say that they will convince Israel to have a ceasefire agreement before Ramadan.
