Lok Sabha Election 2024: As part of the parliamentary elections, polling was held for 58 Lok Sabha seats in six states across the country on Saturday (May 25). Polling was peaceful except for sporadic incidents. Polling till 7:45 pm was recorded as 59.06. West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout of 72 percent, while Delhi recorded the lowest voter turnout of only 34.4 percent.

Across the country, 7 constituencies in Delhi, 10 constituencies in Haryana, 14 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, 8 constituencies each in Bihar and West Bengal, 6 constituencies in Odisha, 4 in Jharkhand and one in Jammu and Kashmir. Along with these, 42 Assembly constituencies in Odisha and Karnal Assembly Constituency in Haryana held by-elections.

Many celebrities exercised their right to vote in the sixth Lok Sabha elections. President Draupadimurmu, Vice President Dankar, Union Ministers S. Jayashankar, Hardeep Singh, Delhi CM Kejriwal, Delhi Minister Atishi, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and former President Ram Nath Kovind voted. Union Minister Jayashankar, who exercised his right to vote as the first male voter in the polling booth, was given a certificate. He shared it on social media.

Clash in Bengal

On how many occasions did clashes take place in West Bengal? Jarrgam BJP candidate Pranath Tudu was pelted with stones and ran away in fear. CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat said that the EVM was shouting and Mehboobabufti protested in Kashmir for blocking them.
