Odisha BJP: It seems like there are no alliances in Odisha in the elections. BJP state president Manmohan Samal announced that they will contest on their own. It is known that the Odisha Assembly elections are going on along with the general elections. With this BJP thought to go with the ruling BJD. But with the demand of more seats from BJP, it seems that BJD is ready to fight alone. It is almost as if there is no alliance. If that happens, there is a possibility of a three-way fight in Odisha. It seems that there is a fight between BJP, BJD and Congress.
In 1998, Janata Dal was part of NDA. Biju Patnaik used to head that party. With his untimely death, Naveen Patnaik made a political entry. Contested as MP and won. As the Janata Dal party was already in the NDA, Naveen Patnaik also acted as a minister in Vajpayee's cabinet. But Naveen founded the Biju Janata Dal Party in the name of his father Biju Patnaik. He contested the assembly elections in 2000 with the BJP. He won that election. Naveen is sitting on the CM's pedestal. So far, they have been winning unreservedly. Currently he is suffering from old age. As he is a bachelor, he has no political heirs.
Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal has remained a reliable ally of the NDA. However, due to communal riots in 2008 and 2009, the two parties split. BJD broke with the party saying that BJP was responsible for this violence. In 2009 and 2014 elections, BJP contested alone. But no better results were achieved. Currently BJD is in a strong position. But the BJP is hoping for an aging Naveen Patnaik. As part of the alliance, it is looking to increase its influence in Odisha by securing majority seats. BJP is looking to gradually overtake BJD and grow in Odisha. That's why it is being spread that BJD noticed these moves and moved away.
