Palasa cashew : Palasa cashew has got another rare recognition. TTD has decided to use Palasa cashew in laddu prasadam in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Taste and Aromas Tirupati Venkateswara Swamy Laddu Prasad has great importance and importance. Cashew nuts play a major role in the preparation of this laddu. From now on Palasa cashew will be used in making TTD laddu. Three tonnes of cashews are required per day to make Tirupati Balaji laddus. Earlier, this cashew was collected from the states of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in a monopolistic manner. At first, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam used to buy directly. Later various changes took place in this collection. At present it is being procured through global tenders. Recently, Palasa-based businessman Korada Santosh won these global tenders. Hundreds of traders from different states competed. But exceptionally the Palasa cashew trader got the tender. With this, henceforth cashew will be exported from Palasa to TTD.
* After 45 years
Actually Palasa cashew was used more than 45 years ago. But as the production decreased, cashew was supplied from the states of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. There are cases where those states have won tenders after competing with AP. Since then our state's cashew was limited to foreign and local sales only. The main temples were not supplied. After 45 years that chance has come to Palasa Cashew and the traders are happy.
* Our state is in fifth place
Our state ranks 5th in the country in cashew production. Cashew is cultivated mostly in Srikakulam district. Cashew industries are also mostly located here. GD is going on in about 30 thousand hectares. Cultivation is also high in Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam district agency. While there are more than three thousand cashew industries in the country, there are about 300 industries in Srikakulam district. Especially in Palasa Kashibugga twin towns of Srikakulam district. About 50 thousand people are living depending on the industries. Traders as well as workers are expressing happiness with the opportunity to supply laddu from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.
* Three tons per day
Three tonnes of cashews are required per day to make Tirupati Balaji laddus. At present information has been received from TTD to supply GH Badda variety of cashew. To this extent, the workers are engaged in the preparation of that type of dal. As it is going to be sent to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, all kinds of precautions are being taken. Around 300 workers are engaged in grading the cashews to be sent to TTD. Malla Rameswara Rao, president of the Industrial Use Cashew Producers Association, described this as a boon for the cashew industries of Palasa Kashibugga. He described the opportunity to provide quality cashew to TTD as a blessing.
