In this background, blood samples were collected from another 36 prisoners and tests were conducted and it was confirmed that they also had positive symptoms. As a result, a total of 47 prisoners were infected with AIDS, Lucknow Jail officials say. A total of 47 AIDS inmates are being treated by Lucknow Jail authorities who have admitted them to a local government hospital. They are being counseled by medical officers. In the wake of AIDS, many changes were made in their menu to provide the inmates with a stronger diet. The authorities were alerted to the symptoms of AIDS among the inmates in the jail and increased surveillance. After the chief minister's office inquired about the matter, the higher officials of the jail will conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
