The government has estimated that around 31 thousand crores will be required for this loan waiver. As part of this, the process of selecting the beneficiaries has been initiated. After the report of the committee set up by the government, the government started identifying the eligible people for the loan waiver scheme. Due to non-availability of funds, the government has taken action to apply loan waiver only to those who are eligible. A shocking decision was taken as part of this.
The state government has decided not to apply loan waiver to ministers, members of parliament, MLAs and MLCs. However, it seems that government employees may be exempted from this list. For the 31 thousand crores required for loan waiver, the government has already prepared 10,000 crores. TG IIC will raise another 10 thousand crores by mortgaging the lands to banks. Another 10 thousand crores will be arranged in the form of loans. The government says that they will waive off the crop loan of two lakhs in one go. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has already announced that the loan waiver process will be completed by August.
The loan waiver scheme was the main reason for Congress to come to power. As the previous Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi government made a fool of itself in the matter of loan waiver, the Revanth government is taking strict steps to ensure that such a situation does not arise. Funds are being mobilized based on available resources even if there is no availability of funds. The government is ready to waive off the loans before the farmers get angry at the field level. But although the government employees were initially thought to be excluded from the list of farmers' loans, later the government reversed that decision. The government is taking steps to waive off the loans of all, except public representatives.
