Telangana: Under whose rule did we get our water?” title=”Telangana: Under whose rule did we get our water?” class=”lozad”>
Telangana: The tussle over handover of projects built on the Krishna River to the Center has reached a climax. The ruling Congress and the opposition Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi are criticizing each other. If the Congress is accusing the previous government of handing over the projects built on the Krishna River to the Centre, then the Bharat Rashtra Samithi is criticizing the Congress government for handing over the Krishna river projects to the Centre. In this context, the government launched a book titled Facts on Krishna River Projects at the Legislative Assembly on Monday. But the former Minister of Irrigation Department and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao responded to this book. He completely condemned the power point presentation given by Irrigation Minister Uttamkumar Reddy at the Legislative Assembly. “The fact that the previous government agreed to hand over the Krishna River water projects to the Krishna River Management Board in the second Apex Committee meeting is meaningless. This is evidenced by the letter written by Rahul Bojja, Secretary of Irrigation Department in the current government. Page No:3 contains these details in paragraph: C. In the 17th Krishna River Management Board meeting, Harish Rao stated that Rahul Bojja wrote that the previous government did not agree to hand over the projects. Moreover, Harish Rao revealed in the Legislative Assembly that he has written 26 letters to the Center to give 50:50 ratio of water shares.
After Harish Rao's speech, Irrigation Minister Uttamkumar Reddy gave his own response.. Telangana government agreed to give 512 TMC of water to Andhra Pradesh during 2014-22. It has been asking for 50:50 share only since last year. Moreover, before the elections, the AP government police came on the Nagarjunasagar project and created a ruckus. The Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi tried to change this in their favor. Now that he is out of power, Krishna is making unnecessary fuss about the projects he has built. It is trying to trouble the government,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy. Uttamkumar Reddy said that Harish Rao is making unnecessary allegations if he is saying that the projects built on the Krishna river have not been handed over to the Centre.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy responded to this controversy in his own style. He said that the water of Krishna river is vital for Telangana. He made it clear that the projects built on the Krishna river will not be handed over to the Center under any circumstances. He questioned why the Chief Minister KCR did not come to the Assembly when the Krishna river water was being debated.. If the government was passing a resolution to give 68 percent share of Krishna river water to Telangana.. without approving it.. without coming to the assembly.. he criticized KCR for sleeping in the farm field. Moreover, is KCR in favor of the resolution “551 TMCs of water should come to Telangana” introduced by Irrigation Minister Uttamkumar Reddy in the House? isn't it Revanth Reddy demanded to resolve the matter.
Siddipet MLA Harish Rao responded to Revanth Reddy's comments. Harish Rao said that the Krishna River Management Board meeting was held on January 17, 2024.. The projects built on the Krishna River are going into the hands of the Centre.. Injustice is being done to Telangana. He said that the government would have woken up if they had raised concerns about this matter. On January 27, 2024, the present government had written a letter to the Centre. But only in that letter it is said that projects are not being handed over to the Centre. Harish Rao said that in the second meeting held on February 1, 2024, the current Congress government has agreed to hand over the Telangana power generation centers to the Krishna River Management Board.
