Goddess Parvati made Ganesha out of flour. Goddess Parvati usually takes the form of a boy while mixing flour to prepare for bathing. As it is very beautiful to look at, Ammavaru brings life to Ammavaru. She hears the words of the boy. But Goddess Parvati goes to the bath to guard the boy after realizing that it will be late for the bath. Meanwhile Shiva comes from outside and the boy stops him as he is going into the temple of Goddess Parvati. In an argument between Ganesha and Shiva, Lord Shiva beheaded the boy in anger. When Goddess Parvati came to know about the matter and insisted that her child should live, Lord Shiva attached the head of an elephant named Gajasura and brought him back to life. This is the story behind the birth of Ganapati. On that day, we all celebrate Vinayaka.

What is in Puranas..
It is written in two Puranas that Lord Ganesha should not be worshiped with Tulsi forces. They are Shiva Purana and Ganesha Purana. But according to Shiva Purana.. Tulsi comes to Ganapati while he is meditating. She likes his meditative form and asks him to marry her. But Vigneshwara, who does not like Tulsi's desire, refuses to marry Tulsi Devi. The enraged Tulsi cursed Ganesha not to marry anyone again. In return, Ganesha also cursed Tulsi. She informed Mullokala that she no longer wants to worship with Tulsi's troops. The same thing is mentioned in Ganesha Purana too.

Scholars say that it is not proper to worship Lord Ganesha with Tulsi forces in the regular worship. Scholars say that it is not good to do this based on stories in Puranas. But in some parts of North India Tulsi forces are also used in regular worship.
Can Vinayaka Chaviti be worshiped with Tulsi forces or not..
According to the Puranas, Ganapati does not like to be worshiped by Tulsi forces. But pundits say that it can be worshiped only on the day of Vinayaka Chavithi. It is customary to worship Ganapati with 21 types of documents on the day of Vinayaka Chavithi. Among those 21 types are Durva, Bilva, Argavada, Daami, Badari, Karaka, Deodaru, Shami, Aswattha, Arjuna, Madhuka, Neredu etc. Scholars say that among these 21 there is also Tulsi document. It is said that Tulsi troops can be worshiped only for one Vinayaka Chavithi and there will be no errors.
