AP Elections 2024: The crucial phase of AP Assembly elections is over. The nominations are over. Along with the general elections, the AP assembly elections are going on. 1102 nominations have been filed for 25 parliamentary seats. Officials said that 5960 nominations have been filed for 175 assembly seats. These are being examined today. Those that do not conform to the rules will be rejected. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is till 29th of this month. On 30th the contesting candidates will be announced. Polling will be held on May 13.
Along with the candidates of major parties, independents are contesting in the elections. Along with political parties registered with the EC, candidates from recognized parties also filed nominations in large numbers. Some even filed two sets of nominations as a precautionary measure. Officials will reject duplicate nominations during today's scrutiny. It is possible to get full clarity only then.
It is known that TDP, BJP and Jana Sena formed an alliance. Rebels have filed nominations in the Telugu Desam Party in the wake of large-scale adjustment of seats. The leadership appeased them. With this, all the nominations are likely to be withdrawn. But the final list of competing candidates will be finalized on 30th of this month. After that these names are sent for printing in EVMs.
On the other hand, with the nominations over, the candidates focused on campaigning. The campaign will be intensified. The campaign is open till May 11. Already the party leaders are holding huge public meetings. The leaders of the alliance are coming up on the same platform. With only two weeks remaining, they are increasing their aggression. On the other hand, the sun is burning. The ranks of the parties are not interested in campaigning. As a result, the campaign is limited to morning and evening hours.
