Arvind Kejriwal: It is known that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is serving his sentence in Tihar Jail on charges of involvement in the Delhi liquor scam. But he got a huge relief on Friday. The Supreme Court has decided to grant him interim bail. But some rules have been imposed. The Supreme Court has granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 1. It has imposed various conditions. A bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta said that Arvind Kejriwal should stay away from the duties of Chief Minister.
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED officials on March 21 on charges of money laundering in the Delhi liquor scam. He is currently in judicial custody in Tihar Jail. But Arvind Kejriwal applied for bail several times. But the court rejected them. ED has also ably argued against the bail petitions. In this context, recently Arvind Kejriwal's bail petition came up for hearing before the court. The court that heard the case reserved the judgment for May 10.
The verdict was issued on Friday. This ended the suspense over Arvind Kejriwal's bail. Enforcement officials have expressed strong objection to Arvind Kejriwal's request to allow him to participate in the parliamentary election campaign. It was argued in the court that such developments had never taken place in the past. Arvind Kejriwal's bail petition was heard on May 3. The Supreme Court made important comments in the context. The bench said that they are thoroughly examining the matter of granting bail. The enforcement officials also explained that “if the chief minister has to sign any files”. The bench once again reminded the words of the day in the judgment on Friday. Even if he is released from jail on bail, Arvind will not have any powers. No right to participate in any official functions. Only he can campaign in elections.
