Shah Rukh Khan gave courage
“I was playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. I was not able to run properly that season. I am experiencing a difficult situation. At that time I got strong encouragement from Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders. That was the motivation to win the title that season.. “It doesn't matter how you play. Shahrukh Khan told me that I can't give up on you. Those words filled me with a lot of confidence. They helped win the title that season. Shah Rukh Khan spoke to me for just seven minutes. As an owner he did not talk about cricket. He only spoke words that boosted my self-confidence. They worked hard on me. Gautham Gambhir commented, “You have seen the end result.”
That is not the work of a talented team
Commenting that winning big tournaments is not the job of a talented team, Gautam Gambhir said that the players should be ready to fight till the last drop of blood. He expressed confidence that only the team with such players can win the cup in IPL. “We are trying to be bold this season. If all the players come together with that courage, great results will come.. The players should fight for their hidden fan. If that is done then the team will be in a strong position.. I find it kind of awkward to discuss the talent of the players in the dressing room.. When I was playing for the Kolkata team in the 2014 season I could not score a single run in four matches. Then Shahrukh Khan boosted my confidence. That's why I've said many times that he was the best boss I've ever had.. I wouldn't say I made the right decisions when I was the leader of the team. But Shah Rukh Khan has immense faith in me. That belief is what made Kolkata a winner,” Gautam Gambhir said.
Gautam Gambhir remained a Bharatiya Janata Party MP until recently. Later, he resigned from his post and was appointed as a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders team. Currently under his leadership, the Kolkata team continues to be second in the points table. The team is known for being a strong group of players. Gautam Gambhir guided the Lucknow team in the last two seasons.
