Indian Sailors: Last month, Iran detained a ship coming to India amid tensions with Israel. It includes many Indian sailors from India. After several consultations and discussions, Tehran released some of the ship's passengers after a month. This has been disclosed by the Indian Embassy in Iran. Five of the Indian crew members of the MSC Aeris were among those released. They left for home on Thursday evening. The Indian Embassy said that the efforts of the Indian Embassy and Consulate for the release of the sailors are getting cooperation from the Iranian authorities. Besides the Indians, Tehran also released two crew members from the Philippines and Estonia in the vessel under the control of Iran.

On April 13, the merchant ship MSC Ares of Israel's Kubera was chased by Iranian IRGC helicopters near the Strait of Hormuz and taken to Aden. The ship has a total crew of 25. 17 of them are Indians. For their release, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke to Iran's Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Abdullahiyan on the phone. As per his request, the officials of the Indian Embassy in Tehran allowed our staff to meet.

Iran released one of the Indian crew members, Atessa Joseph, a Kerala woman, after negotiations. She reached home safely on April 18. Recently released five more people. The remaining 11 Indian sailors are still in Tehran's custody. However, this number has not been confirmed by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. On the other hand, it is known that Iran released the Pakistani nationals in the ship last month.
