However, a sitting MP tried to commit suicide after not getting a ticket. He passed away while receiving treatment in the hospital. This tragic incident took place in the state of Tamil Nadu. MDMK party leader Ganeshamurthy (77) continues to be a member of the Lok Sabha for the Erode parliamentary seat in Tamil Nadu. He won this position in the elections held in 2019. However, he did not get a ticket in this election and tried to commit suicide. He passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Coimbatore.
DMK and MDMK parties formed an alliance in the 2019 parliamentary elections. As part of the alliance, MDMK got this road location. Ganeshamurthy “Rising Sun” contested from that party on the DMK symbol. But in the current election, Erode went to DMK. MDMK was allotted Trichy seat as part of alliances. MDMK announced Durai Vaigo as the candidate for that position. This made Ganesh Murthy worried.
Knowing that he would not get a ticket, he met his followers. Tears were shed in front of them. On March 24, he suddenly fell seriously ill. The observed family members were taken to a private hospital. The doctors who examined him revealed to the family members that he tried to commit suicide by swallowing poison. He was treated in the hospital for four days. He passed away after his condition worsened on Thursday. The police have registered a case of suicide and are investigating. After the postmortem, his body was handed over to the family members.
Ganesh Murthy was born in June 1947. He started the MDMK party in 1993 and has been in it ever since. For the first time in 1998, Palani won from the parliamentary seat. After that, he contested the assembly elections and won as an MLA. Elected as Erode MP in 2009. He lost the 2014 election. In 2016, he took charge as the treasurer of the MDMK. In the 2019 elections, he won as the MDMK candidate from Erode seat with a two lakh majority. Tamil Nadu was in mourning after his death. The opposition BJP, Anna DMK and DMK are criticizing the party's style of dealing.
