Parliament Elections

Parliament Elections: BJP wants to come to power for the third time.. This time the Congress alliance will take power anyway.. All in all, there are chances that this term's Parliament elections will go on like a riot. The respective political parties have already released the list of candidates within the minute of releasing the election schedule. They also intensified the election campaign. In this background, around 15 former Chief Ministers from both BJP and Congress alliances are going to contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections. In this, 12 people are contesting from the NDA alliance. Three more stood in the ring from the India alliance. This list of Chief Ministers includes Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Sarbananda Sonowal, Jagdambika Paul.

In the list of former Chief Ministers who are going to contest in the Parliament elections, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the most senior leader. He served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for 6,122 days. This time he is contesting as an MP in the parliamentary elections. Biplav Dev as the Chief Minister of Tripura, Trivendra Singh as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Manohar Lal who served as the Chief Minister of Haryana gave up their posts due to local opposition and dissension within the party. He came out of the politics of his own state. They are also contesting in the Parliament elections this time. Arjun Munda as Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Rajnath Singh as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh could not prove majority in the House. As a result President's rule had to be imposed in those states. They will also test their luck in the parliamentary elections. Jagdish Shettar and Basavaraj Bommai, who served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka state, could not lead the party to victory in the assembly elections held during their tenure. So they gave up their positions. They will also contest in the Parliament elections.

Digvijay Singh and Bhupesh Singh Baghel, who worked as chief ministers on behalf of the Congress, also faced the same plight. Even Nabantu, who served as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, could not get a majority. After the collapse of the government, President's rule came in there too. 43 MLAs led by Pema Khandu, who served as Chief Minister for the second time from July 13 to 16, 2016, voiced their opposition. An affiliate of the Bharatiya Janata Party became the People's Party of Arunachal Pradesh. He had to lose his post due to this. With this, a new government was formed in that state under the leadership of Pema Khandu.

Sarbananda Sonowal, Biplav Kumar and Digvijay Singh are currently members of the Rajya Sabha. However, their parties stood in the ring of parliamentary elections. Rajnath Singh, Jagdambika Paul and Arjun Munda are currently members of Parliament but are preparing for election once again. And the rest are facing their opponents in new elections. Son of former Prime Minister Devi Gowda, Kumaraswamy served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka once with the support of the BJP and once again with the support of the Congress. He refused and resigned in 2007 when the BJP was supposed to hand over power as per the pre-arranged agreement. As a result President's rule had to be imposed in that state. In 2018, when the JDS became the third party under his leadership, he supported the Congress party with the intention of keeping the BJP out of power. With this, he assumed the post of Chief Minister for the second time. In the month of July 2019, Kumaraswamy lost his majority as 13 Congress and three JDS MLAs defected from the party. As a result, the chief minister had to resign. Yeddyurappa took charge as Chief Minister immediately after he stepped down from the post. The graph of Kumaraswamy's party has fallen badly in the 2023 assembly elections. Keeping his political future in mind, he has now joined the NDA alliance. Kumaraswamy's party got three seats as part of the alliance. Kumaraswamy is contesting from the Mandya Parliament seat. Earlier, BJP leader and film Actress Sumalatha was the sitting MP of this seat. Due to Kumaraswamy, she lost the opportunity to contest from there this time.
