Out of this 26 people showed HIV positive symptoms. The medical community was suddenly shocked by this. 26 of those infected with HIV are between 20 and 45 years old. In order to know how they got infected with HIV.. when the medical teams inquired.. the shocking facts came to light.
There are 26,890 HIV positive victims in ten districts of Azamgarh, Mirzapur and Varanasi division in Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh state. The local government hospital is providing them with medicines and pension every month. Blood tests are done by the medical staff every month. Necessary nutrition is also provided. But recently medical personnel visited the above areas. Some were ill and were looked after by the medical staff. They got suspicious and did blood tests and the real thing came to light. 26 of those who were tested by doctors were found to be HIV positive. Many of them had tattoos in the past. Hence Dr. Preeti Agarwal, Senior Medical Officer of Varanasi ART Center, declared that they were infected with HIV.
Recently in Purvanchal region tattooing culture has increased in Azamgarh, Mirzapur and Varanasi divisions. Tattooists use needles. Doctors suspect that HIV infection was caused by these needles…that's why those 26 people were diagnosed positive. Doctors warn that repeated tattoos can spread not only HIV but also other infections. Doctors suggest that tattoos should be done only by trusted people. It is better to stay away from such culture as much as possible. They warn that tattooing in crowded areas can lead to incurable diseases. Doctors say that many people are at risk of contracting diseases like HIV due to tattooing using an OK needle, so young people should be careful.
