A charitable organization has come up with the idea of Aadhaar card to get rid of stray dogs.
The charity has issued cards with QR codes to 100 dogs in various areas including Delhi Terminal Airport, India Gate, Delhi. These cards were placed around their necks. By scanning this QR code, it will be known which street the dog belongs to. When the dogs are injured or missing, this code can be scanned and information can be given to the area authorities. Once the dogs disappear. Officials say that these Aadhaar cards will come in handy to track them at such times. Animal lovers say that they will act as a safety net for street dogs.
But already in Bombay, a voluntary organization has made available a digital QR code system with the details of stray dogs. QR code tags were attached to the necks of 20 stray dogs roaming around Mumbai. Once the code is scanned, the dog's name along with its location, owner, vaccination records and health details will come. The organization says that this innovative experiment is to rehome stray dogs if they get lost. Now with the introduction of Aadhaar card experimentally in Delhi too, there is an opportunity to expand across the country.
