Terrorists Attack: A terrorist attack took place in the most sensitive area of Jammu and Kashmir during the parliamentary elections. Terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch area. A soldier was killed in this incident. Four more soldiers were injured.. This is the third attack by terrorists in Rajouri-Poonch area this year. An army jawan's brother and a member of a village defense group were shot dead in separate attacks by terrorists last month. The terrorists launched a very smart attack on the Indian Air Force vehicles which were conducting searches in the Shasitar area of Poonch district. Indian Air Force officials have been conducting searches in the area for some time. They are searching this cordon on the suspicion that terrorist movements are going on in the background of elections.
Terrorists opened fire on an Indian Air Force convoy following a cordon search. Five Air Force personnel were injured in the firing. They were airlifted to the local Udhampur Army Hospital. One died while receiving treatment there. The other four have bullet injuries and are being treated in the emergency department of the hospital. The area where the terrorists fired was very close to the district headquarters. The army officials were alerted and they were taken to the hospital by helicopter.
In 2019, the Center revoked the special status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. As a result, incidents of violence are taking place in the Poonch-Rajouri region, which shares the 220-kilometer Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In April this year, terrorists shot dead the brother of an Army jawan and a member of a village defense group in separate attacks in this area. The attack took place in the Poonch-Rajouri area of Pir Panjal valley while arrangements were being made for the parliamentary elections. Elections will be held here on May 25. Following the attack, the security forces took control of the area. Strict security has been established. Vehicle checks and searches have been intensified.
