This dialogue is also true in the life of that fisherman. He threw a net for fish.. pulled it up and opened it.. like a treasure hunt, he saw a big package. That package is not normal.. Fishermen spend days in the sea for fishing. Sometimes if the fish gets caught in the net.. sometimes you have to come back empty handed. Fishermen celebrate when fish are caught. Sometimes they catch rare fish. Kachidi fish is very special among them. Because they have immense medicinal properties.. They have huge demand in the open market. If those fish are caught in the net, the income earned after working hard for three or four months will be collected in one day.
Ravi is a fisherman by profession from Adiram Pattinam area of Thanjavur district in Chennai. Recently he went fishing in the sea. He threw a net in the sea. I felt a tremendous weight while pulling the net out. Ravi jumped with joy. When the net was pulled out, a 25 kg goldfish alias kachidi fish was found. He was happy that all his poverty was gone. The scientific name of Goldfish is Protonibia diacanthus.. It is also known as Black Spotted Croaker. After coming out of the sea, Ravi brought the fish to the market for auction. As it was a rare fish, traders competed to buy it. The auction started with a thousand rupees. 1,87,770 as the traders put the price competitively.. Ravi was overwhelmed by this. Jack celebrates winning the pot.
Actually these fish are found in coastal areas of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha. They are rarely available in Tamil Nadu. These fish have many medicinal properties. These fish are used to make threads especially used in gall bladder surgery. These fish fins are used to clean expensive wines. The meat of this fish is used in making cosmetics. Their parts are also used in the preparation of medicines. Recently, a fisherman in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, found a kachidi fish in a similar manner. In the auction, it was also fetched in lakhs.
